Zone blocks client-side slots and the legacy slot path

Install the Spectare plugin by searching for Spectare in Plugins, Add New inside your WordPress admin and installing Spectare Personalisation from the official plugin directory. If you need a manual install, download the zip from spectare.ai and upload it via Plugins, Add New, Upload Plugin instead. Activate the plugin, open Settings and then Spectare, and paste in your workspace slug.

The recommended integration uses the Spectare Zone block, which is a native Gutenberg block that appears in the block inserter after activation. Place it on any page, set the zone name to match one of the zones in your Spectare workspace, and publish. The block renders a slot that the personalisation engine fills on each visit without any further configuration.

If your site uses the classic editor or a page builder that does not expose Gutenberg blocks, you can place a zone using the shortcode approach instead. Add the shortcode with your chosen zone name anywhere in the post content and the plugin handles the rest. This path works on any WordPress install regardless of editor.

The legacy slot approach using data attributes in your theme templates is still supported for sites where neither block nor shortcode placement fits the existing architecture. All three paths call the same personalisation engine and receive the same assembled content; only the mechanism for placing the slot on the page differs.
